Gorm the Zop

In Gorm the Zop, players navigate a defamiliarized interface with only volatile, jargon-filled messages from a chat companion as guidance.

I conceived, designed, and developed this game at Google's Next Billion Users team as an empathy exercise, helping colleagues experience interfaces through the eyes of someone unfamiliar with contemporary UX conventions.

The game has been played by thousands of Googlers across the company, frustrating and confounding many of them:
